With the addition of a new insurance carrier June 1st, Collectibles Insurance Services is now able to provide coverage for Dolls, Fine Art, Antique Furniture, Gold Coins, Musical Instruments, and Taxidermy. "The addition of these types of antiques and collectibles allows us to fully satisfy our customers' needs for specialized insurance" advises Dan Walker, consultant for Collectibles Insurance Services.

Most collectors are under the mistaken assumption that their collections are covered by their homeowners' insurance. It is only after they have a loss or hear of one in their collecting community, that collectors realize the need for a separate policy to protect their most prized possessions. Homeowners' insurance is designed to cover personal property and is not nearly enough to protect antiques and collectibles. Homeowners insurance may:
- Limit contents coverage to a percent of the total value of your home (50 - 70%)
- Limit the amount they'll pay for theft of valuable items like silver, crystal, guns, stamps, and paper documents
- Not cover losses due to flood, hurricane and earthquake
- Be based on actual cash value rather than the collectible value of the item(s)
